8 Types of Cancer Fighting Foods 

A healthy diet is one of the essential elements of reducing cancer. A diet rich in vegetables, protein, whole grains, and fiber has for long been recommended as the best in fighting cancer. A large percentage of cancer cases are as a result of the kind of food-mostly junk-that the patients were using before they got infected. So, what are some of the foods that you should eat to reduce the risk of cancer infection? The following is a list of 8 potentially powerful cancer fighting foods

Tomatoes

This juicy fruit is packed with lycopene, a chemical that gives tomatoes their red color. Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant that helps lower the risk of: Lung, endometrial, stomach and prostate cancers

Note: Consumption of cooked  tomatoes is more beneficial that raw tomatoes  because the heating process usually increases the amount of lycopene the body can absorb.


 Berries 

All berries are rich in phytonutrients which greatly help in fighting cancer. Black raspberries contain higher phytochemicals known as anthocyanin’s which significantly slow down premalignant cell growth. Most berries contain polyphenol antioxidants which inhibit the growth of tumor.

  • Consumption of berries helps fight the following types of cancer: Esophageal, oral, colon and skin cancers.
  • It is important that you focus on eating a variety of seasonal berries for a healthy diet.

Beans 

Beans are highly rich in fiber .They Contain phytochemicals which prevent or significantly reduce the damage to DNA which is the basis of cancer.


  • The fiber in the beans reduces the risk of colon cancer.
  • Dried beans are very effective in reducing breast cancer according to researchers.

Note: Remember to add a serving-at least a half a cup –of beans 3-4 times a week to your rotation of greens.

 Broccoli

Broccoli sprouts have phytochemical sulforaphane, which aid in preventing colon and rectal cancer.The vegetable contains a chemical component known as indole-3-carbinol that combats breast cancer by converting estrogen which is cancer promoting into a more protective variety. 

According to studies, Broccoli contains sulforaphane which induces production of certain enzymes which greatly inhibit growth of tumor cells.


Mushrooms 

There are a variety of mushrooms that help fight cancer in the body while building the immune system. Some of these mushrooms include: Coriolus Versicolor, maitake, shiitake and Agaricus blaze Murill.

These mushrooms also have a protein called lectin which helps attack cancerous cells and prevent them from multiplying.

Garlic is one of the superfunds that help in fighting cancer.

They halt the formation of carcinogen and nitrosamines formed in the stomach when one consumes common food preservatives or nitrates. Studies indicate that people who incorporate higher amounts of garlic in their diet have up 50 percent lower risk of getting colon cancer than those consuming lesser amount.

Carrots are packed with beta carotene compound that greatly helps in reducing variety cancers. Some of the cancers carrots can help reduce include: Mouth, throat, mouth, lung, stomach, intestinal, breast and prostate cancer.

Carrots contain a substance known as falcarino which significantly reduces the risk of cancer in the body according to researchers. It is recommended that you consume raw carrots because they are richer in cancer reducing compounds than boiled ones.


 Kales

Kales contain nitrogen compounds and in doles that halt the conversion of particular lesions into cancerous cells.

  •  Phytochemicals found in kales are thought to greatly suppress growth of tumor.
  • Their phytochemicals also aid in blocking the cancer-causing substances from reaching their target by completely fighting them off.
