Cannibalism; We as a people seem to be De-evolving as Technology advances.

Four Cases, Four Parts, of the World, the Same Results Mostly.

For years we thought of Hannibal Lecter, a fictional charater from the novels of Thomas Harris, when we thought of cannibalism.  Lately, in reality, that has changed.  There has been new cases, nationally and internationally that gives cannibalism another face and brings into question what is driving us as people to make us want to eat another person.  You don't have to wait for a so-called zombie outbreak to be scared out of your mind about being eaten.  Those days are here, and the aggressors are not wearing worn out blood stained clothing with chunks of their flesh missing.  No, they look like you and me.

Luka Magnotta, a 29 year old Canadian gay porn star was recently apprehended in Germany by Interpol for allegedly killing and eating his boyfriend.  He posted the video online of the apperent murder of a college student Lin Jun.  He is also believed to have mailed his victims severed hands and feet to Canada's main political headquarters and to an elementary school.  Luka Magnotta, also found online as Luke Magnotta was said to have been sought by animal rights groups for making videos of tourturing animals and posting them online.

The more known cannibal in the US that has probably bumped Jeffery Dahmer down a peg or two would be The Miami Zombie, aka, Rudy Eugene.  It was said in an eighteen minute attack he ate 75% of the face of a sixty five year old homeless man Ronald Poppo.  It was said that Eugene was high on bath salts at the time of the attack causing him to over heat and giving him super human strength.  He was completely naked at the time of the attack when police ended his attack by shooting him four times and killing him.  Rudy Eugene was 31.  Update:  Depending on what site you go to, it is said that no human flesh was found in Eugene's stomach and he was not high on bath salts.  However, two unidentified pills was found in his system.

Even in the sophisticated and educated arena, acts of cannibalism exsist.  A Swedish professor, (checked three sites, name withheld) attacked his wife and cut her lip off with a scalpel and ate it.  She asked for a divorce and he wanted for her to be able to suffer and never be able to kiss again.  He ate her lip to keep doctors from being able to re-attach
it.  This case is a bit different from the other two but it is cannibalism by it's base definition, the act or practice of humans
consuming the flesh of other human beings.

Ivan L, a twenty-one year old chef from the Russian city of Murmansk, lured his victem from an online gay dating service, killed him, and made videos of him making dishes.  He made sausage links and meatballs out of his victim and even had a video for a rib dish.  When he confessed to police, he had plans to eat ten more people in the future.

So why do they do it?  Is it our fascination with zombie movies so we try to live in one.  If that's the case it's like playing cops and robbers but they are wanting to be the robbber.  Is it our obsession to be famous and all you need is an Internet Service Provider and some know how and you can post whatever you want the world to see.  Two of the four above cases did that.  Whatever the cause we as a society need to get a grip on what goes on in our neighborhood.  Out of the above cases, the first could have been stopped if help would have stepped in when he was just torturing animals.  The professor claims his attack was more spontaneous, however a good lawyer should be able to prove that since he took time to think about eating her lip, it shows edvidence that it was pre-meditated.  Eugene's pills is still unidentified but may have in some way provoked it.  And as far as Ivan goes, It's possible that there is more to the story than what has been printed.

A Day of Recall

Today is the day that Wisconsinites will chose whether to stay with Gov. Scott Walker or will they elect Milwauke Mayor Tom Barrett.  An election that may seem to be rather insignificant if you live outside the state Wisconsin, but instead, it has gained national news.  Why?  DBC will give insight on why ths was so important of a race.

1.  Polls from several news sites have listed the state of Wisconsin a swing state.  So it is thought that whatever party holds that state that party may win that state in the national elections as well this coming November.

That one is sort of tricky but is believed to be held as true since either main canidate Obama/Romney didn't campaign in that state for either canidate.
It would have had terrible impact on the losing side in that state.

2.  It sort of shapes the up coming national election.  This election is said to be based on labor unions and there impact on legistation, big business, and economics in that state.  If Gov. Walker's  stance against unions prevails in this state, would other conservatives try to follow suit in their respective state.

3.  It points out the relationship that everyone knows exist and tends to ignore, the relationship of politics and business.  Gov. Walker's stance is said to be one made in favor of big business verses the backs of the American people.  Republicans will make the arguement that this will help in the creation of jobs.  But the creation of what jobs.  Labor unions, argue that they fight for better pay and benifits for the employees.  Big business would say that unions hinder the process, that they want better paying jobs for the American people.

Regardless of the argument, the state of Wisconsin has said thier piece and has re-elected Gov. Scott Walker.  It seems his comments to "divide and conquer" has held up.  What will happen as Democrats will now try to regroup and recouparate after tonight's defeat.

The Power of Prayer and Writing.

4/12/2012

As said in our previous posting, Garry T. Allen  was scheduled for execution today (4/12/12). But yesterday a federal judge granted
his execution a stay so that the issue of mental competency could be rightfully  explored.

I will say Prayer came from many individuals as  far as the writing; the Daily Brew is too small to take any credit.  But I will give credit where credit is due.   www.deathpenaltyinfo.org as well as www.lawblogone.wordpress.com has done more for this than the Daily  Brew. I do not know anyone from  either organization or their views of for or against the death penalty, but I
tip my hat to them for helping keeping today’s date off Mr. Allen’s  tombstone.  Oklahoma is appealing the stay to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

For those who wish to follow this story and future ones like it,  Death Watch shall still be ongoing.  It will now have its own tab under  Additives.

Death Watch Begins!

In less than forty eight hours Garry Allen is  scheduled to be executed in Oklahoma by lethal injection.  He was convicted of murdering his girlfriend Lawanna Gail Titswoth in  1986.  He confessed to the murder  to save her family the trauma of a long drawn out trial.

Over the years he has exhausted all his appeals and all were  rejected.  However, one in 1996  did confirm some important in formation that should have reduced his sentence to  life imprisonment without parole.   His appeal case in 1996 did confirm that Garry Allen has had a history of  suffering from mental illness.   Atkins v. Virginia, a Supreme Court case in 2002, ruled that execution of  mental retardation or intellectual disability would be a violation of the  constitutional ban on cruel and unusual punishment.   Unfortunately, in his 2008 appeal he was found sane enough to face  execution.

Secondly, a pardon and parole board voted 4 to 1 that his  sentence should be reduced to life imprisonment without parole.
Regardless of their recommendation, Governor Mary Fallin(R) said she has  reviewed the case and is not leaning towards clemency.

The purpose of this article is to make Americans aware of what  travesty is going on and has been ongoing since 1977 when the first execution  took place in Texas since the United States reinstated the death penalty.  Regardless of how you may feel, this is
an ugly spot on our nation just as Segregation was.

Only thirty some nations out of two hundred in  the world have a death penalty.   Some of those nations are Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Afghanistan.  Honestly most Americans don’t like  being compared to these nations, but unfortunately we as a nation seem to want
to act like them.  No country in  the EU, countries we prefer a comparison with, has a death  penalty.

Now you may feel it is right by saying a life for  a life, but it’s not a life for a life.  Execution by lethal injection however humane it may seem you actually  kill about four people not just one.  Once the toxins of the lethal injection are in the blood stream they
circulate in the body till eventually reaching the heart and stop it.  Now every vital organ in the body is  poisoned.   Do you know how  many people die each year on the organ donor list?  Walter Payton died awaiting a liver, and since 1977 we have executed over  1000 inmates, a lot of unusable organs.

I still take a stance and hope for a day we can see the death penalty once again abolished.  But until that day if these executions
have to take place could it be done in a manner where the organs could be saved  to possibly save another life.  I’m  sure Walter Payton would have wanted that.

Until then, I will stay on my Death Watch to see  how many lives must be destroyed before we can actually and truly say we are a
civilized nation vs. the barbaric nation that perpetrates it.   Come August 12th, unless the governor has a change of heart, Garry Allen  will be the first name on my death watch list.  How many names will it take for the  madness to stop?  We will be
  watching.

Trayvon Martin; Murder or Self Defense

3/26/2012

Picture
 On February 28th,
2012 George Zimmerman, placed a call to 911 to report a "suspicious" black male
walking the area wearing a dark hoodie. Zimmerman followed Trayvon, shot and
killed him. The Sanford Police Department did not arrest Zimmerman, who claims
he was acting under Florida's "Stand Your Ground Law," a law which states that "
a person may use deadly force in self defense when there is reasonable belief of
a
threat, without an obligation to retreat first."

Several key words
are overlooked when citing this law. First when Zimmerman called 911, he was
advised not to pursue Trayvon, Zimmerman failed to comply. This negates the main
part of that law since Self Defense, when used in law, requires you to not put
yourself in harms way. The fact that Zimmerman ignored the advice of the 911
opertive, shows he was looking for trouble.

The next part of the law,
without an obligation to retreat first. These are public streets, he could have
backed off and waited for the "real authorities" to investigate. This shows me
that even Zimmerman doesn't even know the law he is quoting. To me, it seems he
stopped reading after the deadly force part. Now murder is a hard case to prove.
But the fact remains that Zimmerman did intent to shot Trayvon without a doubt.
And to me, there is enough evidence that Zimmerman could be arrested for second
degree murder. And I believe his parents should file suit against the city so
pressure would be applied to arrest Zimmerman. But that's enough on my take.
Take my poll, I would love to hear your opinion on my correspondence.
