Whatever the reasons, we are in an age where the rich gets richer and everyone else fends for themselves. That is why DBC wants to point out why you need to open a bank account.
For most Americans banking is very necessary. We use a bank to finance our home, to buy our car, or even to helpout with the rising cost of education. After all, that is the American dream, a dream that should be for all Americans, not just a selected few. But yet the information on how to get these things are not as easily accessed as it should be.
One of the main reasons was up until recent years banks perferred not to cater to the poor. For those that might not know where the poverty line is drawn, it's $15,000 for a single person $26,000 for a married couple (some sites give different poverty numbers.)To banks, the poor was just a bad invesment that would probably generate little. But in todays's economy, the banking industry is looking for new revenue sources and new growth opportunities.
The advantage now goes to the consumer as banks compete for thier business. Even the fast food employee, now has the ability to have leverage with these banking firms. Opening an account makes it easier for Americans to save, would give them access to loans with better interest rates, and above all, save you unnecessary check cashing fees.
If you don't have a bank account for whatever reason, we encourage you to go out and get one. Most banks require you to open the account with fifty dollars, but it's still your money. In most cases it only has to remain in the bank for atleast one business day.
Go ahead and try it out, to see if it works out better for you in the long run. Come back and comment, we want to know what you think.
