So far we had no complaints with part one. So on with part two. We have 10 more rappers we want to recognize as the greatest in Hip-Hop. So, on with 30-21.

29 Queen Latifah- Considered one of hip-hop's pioneer feminists by Wikipedia, and we agree. U.N.I.T.Y. "Who you callin' a Bi***!" Makes you think twice about saying it. This song earned her a grammy, but that is not why she made the list. Her influence in the game was so great it carried her to movies, TV series, and now she even has a talk show. Because of her, there was a Moni Love and the Flava Unit's most known besides her, Naughty By Nature.

28 Doug E Fresh and Slick Rick. Although they are indeed two separate acts but it's their work together that got them on this list. Yup, it's "The Show." This song shattered the record for number one single and top the charts in pop music throughout Europe. On the B side of the single, the other hit La Di Da Di.
27- Protect Ur Neck! The Wu Tang Clan. Battle rappers, I love battle rappers. Some folks may have not noticed, but Hip-Hop took several turns in the nineties. Early nineties, were the days of the native tongue groups. Groups like Tribe Called Quest, Jungle Brothers, and De La Soul. Then it shifted again towards the battle rappers which was good for the Wu Tang, which in reality is about 8 solo acts putting their talents together to enjoy the ride, which was smart and they did that. Although the Rza seemed to be the brains behind the operation, no one in the group stood out more than The Ol' Dirty Bastard (R.I.P) and the Methodman. |
26 NWA- Niggaz Wit Attitudes consisted of Arabian Prince, DJ Yella, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E (R.I.P), Ice Cube, and MC Ren. They set the bar for gansta rap. Their video Straight out of Compton got banned on MTV just one week after it was released. The group was banned from many radio stations across the nation. Yet they still were heard and had platinum records. Ice cube and Dr. Dre would break away and have prosperous careers. |

25- Dr. Dre. Before N.W.A, Dr. Dre was part of the World Class Wreckin' Cru with the hit "Turn Off The Lights." When with N.W.A, Dr Dre provided the group with beats and produced most of their hits. As an entrepreneur in the industry he reached out and brought the world the D.O.C. but a car accident cut his career short. After leaving N.W.A, he co-founded Deathrow Records which brought the world artist like Snoop Dogg, The Dog Pound, Warren G, and later Tupac would become part of the mix.
Dre would leave Deathrow to become the CEO of Aftermath records and he would continue bringing the world of Hip-Hop new greats like 50 cents, Xibit, and Eminen.

24- Methodman & Redman. Meth had quite an impact with Wu Tang and stepped his game up as a solo artist. Redman began his career with the " Strictly Business" group EPMD and went on as a solo artist. The two originally did a callabo for a sound track in the mid ninety's. In 1999 they dropped the Debut album Blackout and started on the Billboard charts at #3. The album went platinum and the duo at that point enjoyed their greatest success. |
23- Kanye West - One of very few rappers who uses his actual name can be considered one of the most controversial rappers of this decade. As much as folks like to make fun of Kanye, even Kanye himself got in on the action as Kenny West on The Cleveland Show. Regardless of his public ramblings and outrageous appearances, Kanye has won 21 Grammys in his career. A career that's just over ten years. |

22- T.I. What can we say about T.I.? Rapper, record producer, entrepreneur, actor and author. His influence on the game has him going from records, to the big screen, and to reality TV without missing a beat. Even through his legal problems he did not self destruct. He learned, he grew, and he moved on.
Well we are halfway through the list. In two weeks we will be back with 20 through 11. But being halfway through, we will announce some of the misses. Rappers in our opinion just didn't have that greater influence to have made it.
First off, the New Blood. New Blood as in new acts. J. Cole is just as hot as Drake and is definitely the future of Hip-Hop. Other acts in the New Bloods include Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Kendrick Lamar, keep shining.
Missy Elliot, not that she isn't hot, but she is a greater impact on the industry producing rather than making her own music. The Black Eyed Peas will also not make the list. They are rather good at what they do, but we feel that they perform Hip-Hop and are more of a pop group. The previous 20 artist listed not only perform Hip-Hop, they are Hip-Hop.
Tune in on February 7th and peep the next ten. Give us some feed back on whether you think we are Dead on or Dead wrong.
